About Odys Aviation

Bringing everyone closer to everything.

Odys Aviation is dedicated to building the future of travel. We are developing and building vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft. Using hybrid-electric technology, we're forging the next step in commercial aviation, cutting travel times in half on some of the world’s most traveled routes while significantly reducing the industry's carbon footprint.

We envision the skies of tomorrow as home to aircraft that are sustainable, efficient, and capable of serving communities far and wide. Our plans are revolutionary, bridging the gap between existing technology and full-electric aviation, bringing visions of the aviation industry's future to life.

Our Mission

Our mission is to build safe, sustainable aircraft to reduce travel time on the world's busiest corridors.

We create practical solutions that are better alternatives to traditional airplanes that utilize fuel-burning engines. We focus on missions suitable for widespread adoption and design our technology for all travelers, airlines, owners, air freight carriers, and charter operators.

We're not creating short-range VTOL that can only carry three passengers 50 miles. Taking a person out of an electric car and putting them into an electric aircraft has minimal benefit. We're developing a commercial aircraft that can take nine passengers up to 750 miles, bringing the once far-fetched idea of net-zero aviation closer to reality. We're dedicated to finding solutions to the many obstacles facing modern aviation. The Odys Aviation aircraft is the first of its kind, changing the game and revolutionizing the industry.

Our Values

Our values are simple: keep your promises, details matter, build with tenacity, support the team, and balance audacity with pragmatism.

We know developing audacious and safe technology is hard - it takes a committed team dedicated to the goal.

It's important that we can stand behind everything we say and do. Our team holds ourselves and each other accountable to deliver what we promise. We are willing to take the long road and extra time to guarantee we build a safe product that you can 100% trust in. All of our processes are meticulous and our products are built to the highest standards.

Our culture embraces being honest, learning from mistakes, taking care of each other and our customers, and challenging the status quo. All of these values make Odys Aviation a supportive place to create, develop, and inspire each other, our industry, and everyone who wants a better way to travel.

Founders

James Dorris

Before becoming the co-founder of Odys Aviation, James Dorris held leadership roles at GoogleX, Hyperloop One, and Arrivo. He has over 15 years of experience developing core technologies and building transportation systems. His interest in sustainability and efficiency began at the MIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center. During his Fusion Energy Research, James created hardware to localize plasma instabilities, an accomplishment that would spark an ongoing interest in sustainable transportation systems.
